Topics discussed
- Justin Venton has agreed that the signage on pillars leading into the park can be changed to “King George V Park”. Marie to organise with MacSigns.
- Walker Homes initial contact by Graeme Patrick ([email protected]) described their plans to conduct a 12 week community consultation to build 300 houses in the HS10 area with 25% being affordable housing with main accesses via Gladstones Gait. Graeme is keen to iron out any possible issues regarding this development and will be holding a public exhibition on the 21st April at Lasswade High School with the plan being that planning application will be submitted on or around May/June of this year.
- BLCC 4 step response:
- Adapt our MLDP response points to this site as a rough document as talking points for a special meeting. (Ed Angus)
- Special Meeting on Tuesday 22nd March to identify practical areas of concern early in the design process so they can be addressed by Walker for the 21st April exhibition. (Anne Morrison to stand in as chair)
- Promote the exhibition and consultation website:
- Leaflet Gladstones Gait (Pay for delivery)
- Print a banner (Marie)
- Make an info video for Residents forum (Darius)
- Ongoing Facebook posts to raise awareness for local residents
- Dedicate 1 hour of the next full Community Council meeting on 21st April to discuss Walker responses to community councils initial feedback.
- Councillor Derek Milligan commented on the massive cut backs forced on them by the Scottish Government but more alarmingly the 14 Police from the Community Action Team which is to be removed. BLCC is keen to raise awareness of this cut and encourage as many people as possible to write to their local Councillor to request that this cut be reversed. Darius will write to the Councillors sharing our serious objection to this cut.
- BLCC confirmed it will be donating £200 to Bill for the David Dunn Memorial Fitness Trail costs and also £100 to Bright Sparks as a ‘welcome to your new home’ gift.
- Phil Cunningham, Ann Morrison and Marnie Crawford were coopted as community councillors. They will apply as full members of the Community Council at the AGM in May.
- AOB included the public toilets being closed and Lasswade High School lift not working, Derek Milligan is going to look into this and get back to us.
- BLCC Walker Group development meeting Tuesday 22nd March
- Next Community Council meeting Thursday 21st April @ 7.00 with the added option of attending the Walker presentation beforehand.
